One month after signing the Petroleum Industry Bill into law, President Muhammadu Buhari has written to the Senate, requesting an amendment to the Petroleum Industry Act. The Punch reports that the Nigerian leader made the request in a letter read by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, during plenary today Tuesday, September 21. President Buhari In the letter dated September 16, asked the upper chamber to amend three certain provisions of the controversial Act. The Nigerian leader according to Channels TV explained that his proposal became necessary following the need to review the administrative structure of two regulatory agencies.
Buhari is seeking the approval of the federal lawmakers to increase the numbers of the non-executive board members of each agency from two to six, in order to ensure that each region has a representation.
