The Cross River State House of Assembly has lost one of its very prominent members, Elizabeth Ironbar, who represented Akpabuyo Constituency.
Ironbar died from a protracted illness in the morning of Wednesday, October 27, at the Assembly Village, Ikotenim in Calabar.
The sad news was also confirmed by a family source who spoke with journalists without any disclosure of identity.
The source said:
“Yes, she died this morning after a protracted illness. She is indeed a strong woman.”
Ironbar who has represented Akpabuyo constituency since June 2015 is known for her Cross River State Disability Commission bill and is the second member of the ninth Assembly to pass on.
In June 2020, Godwin Akwaji, the lawmaker representing Obudu constituency at the Cross River state house of assembly, died after showing symptoms of COVID-19.
As at the time of publishing this report, authorities in Cross River State are yet to react to the news of Lady Ironbar‘s demise.
