Cultists shot dead Police officer in Ogun State

Suspected cultists shot and killed a police sergeant assigned to the Igbeba Police Station in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
The sergeant was killed just four days after a police inspector was killed by kidnappers who abducted four Chinese workers from a village in Odeda.
On Sunday, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the sergeant’s death to our correspondent.
The deceased, whose identity was not revealed, was targeted and attacked at 11 p.m. on Saturday, according to Oyeyemi.
The cop was not on duty when he was assassinated by persons he recognized as cultists, according to a police spokeswoman.
“It is true that a police officer was killed by suspected cultists,” he stated. However, the officer was not on duty at the time; he was off duty.
“I believe he was slain between the hours of 10.30 and 11 p.m. on Saturday. At the time of the occurrence, he was no longer on duty.
“A suspect has been taken into custody. The suspect is affiliated with the Eiye Confraternity.”
Oyeyemi went on to say that a manhunt had been initiated for the gang’s other members.
