Israel Adesanya retains UFC middleweight title after win on Friday night

Nigerian fighter Israel “The Style Bender” Adesanya defended his UFC belt against his Italian opponent Marvin Vettori after a unanimous decision win in UFC 263 in Glendale, Arizona, United States.

Adesanya who had his first loss in march against polish fighter Jan Blachowicz returned to winning ways on Friday 11th of June in defense of his middleweight title, Adesanya won on all three scorecards (50 – 45, 50 -45, 50 – 45) in the five-round fight after outclassing his opponent, This win is Adesanya’s tenth straight win in the middleweight class and he ended his opponent five-streak win record with this victory, Adesanya popularly called the style bender had previously fought against Marvin Vettori and won the fight in his second professional fight back in 2018.

 After announcing the result Adesanya dedicated the win to his friend Fau Vake, a friend of adesanya and former UFC fighter who died in may after sustaining injuries from an assault in Auckland. After the fight Adesanya said his opponent came to tell him that he believes he had won the bout and Adesanya revealed that he replied to Vettori “keep thinking that, whatever helps you sleep at night.”

Adesanya next fight will be against Robert Whitaker another fighter that Adesanya has beaten in the past, Adesanya won his current title against the fighter and Whitaker is out to get his revenge against the style bender
