Italy becomes the first team to qualify for the knockout stages at UEFA EURO 2020

Italy qualified for the knockout stages of the euro 2020 after beating Switzerland 3 – 0 after a dominant performance, they have become the first term to qualify for the knockout stages win a game in hand.


Italy who won the first game of the tournament with the same 3 – 0 score line against turkey haven’t conceding a single and scoring six goals in the process, in the match against the Swiss, Sassuolo midfielder Manuel Locatelli opened the scoring at the 26th minute, he was the hero again after he doubled the lead at the 52nd minute, veteran forward Ciro immobile put the icing on the cake at the 89th minute


Italy’s coach Roberto Mancini praised the player’s efforts after the game and declared that he believes that they can challenge for the title, Mancini said: “In the European Championship there’s France, Portugal and Belgium – one of those are world champions, another are European champions and the other are the number one ranked side in the world, every match is difficult, you always have to go out there and play. I’ve been fortunate in that I have had some very good players who like playing the game, they enjoy being out there and like taking risks. The players are the ones who deserve the credit. I try to explain my thought process and there is still a long way to go.”


Italy will play their last group match against Wales on Sunday, in other matches Russia won against Finland by a lone-goal and Wales won against turkey 2 – 0 with their captain and Real Madrid forward Gareth bale providing two assists
